Identity Festival 2012This summer is loaded with awesome concerts and festivals for EDM fans. As much as we love all of the opportunities to see tons of DJ’s, I’m sure I’m not the only person who’s a “baller on a budget”. Let’s face it, concerts get expensive! But don’t fret, my EDM buddies. There’s a one day festival that will be touring (most likely in a city near you) from July 19 to August 19, and its price range and lineup is definitely more than favorable. If you haven’t heard about it already, let me rap to you for a second.

That’s right, I’m talking about the one and only Identity Festival. Tickets just recently went on sale, but for some cities, they’re already close to selling out! Not surprising, though. ID Fest varies their acts, so it attracts all types of EDM fans. The festival has already announced phase 1 of their lineup; DJ’s such as Arty, Bingo Players, Excision, Madeon, Noisia, Porter Robinson, Paul van Dyk, Wolfgang Gartner, Eric Prydz, and Nero will be joining the tour for the summer (artists will vary depending on city). Pretty sick for phase 1, right? If the lineup isn’t enough to sell you, maybe the ticket prices will. Depending on what city you’re in, tickets range from $40.00- $60.00 for general admission. If you’re a seasoned ID Fest vet like myself, some cities are still offering their “all- in” tickets for only $25.00. With the ticket prices being so affordable and an array of DJ’s from many genres, ID fest is a crazy good time for almost anyone who decides to go; even your friends who don’t know about or listen to EDM would find an artist they like at Identity Fest! All tour dates and ticket information can be found on the official website.

Glad yall brought this to light on MJ finally, and by someone I’ve never seen before which only shows MJ is growing :-D ……..but I gotta voice my opinion.

Identity 2011 was better. 2012 will more likely than not (HOPEFULLY for those who go) be RUN better… but the 2011 lineup was leagues better than this. For the price, agreed WHY NOT?, and the OPPORTUNITY for Americans to see Prydz in a live set (If you don’t know why I say this…please stop listening to EDM and go back under the rock you came from).

Now you can go an say…oh what’s that guy’s opinion? Well, I went to Identity2011 at not 1, but 2 different stops, in 2 completely different markets, in 2 completely different styles. First round was Identity in Pgh Aug 13. Second round, Las Vegas Labor Day Weekend as VIP.

Pgh stop was awesome, my hometown. can’t complain about that. went off without a hitch and the last 2 sets being Skrillex into Kaskade is pretty UN-beatable. 3rd stage was empty most the day though, unfortunate.
Vegas “VIP” got you………..well a seat in the 2 sections closest to the stage up off to the side of the stage and main GA area…..out of the area where the actual show is going on and on the sidelines so to speak….oh yeah, and they STOPPED Afrojack’s final song (Give Me Everything) for going over his time slot to which he, as he should have, bitched out the entire crew and walked off….it’s ok, I saw him and Skrillex at XS (along with ALL of Identity) later that night :-D

All I can say is there is a reason (Not just $$$$ either) that Kaskade is having a 50 city tour this year and not taking on the task of running Identity2012 as he spearheaded the 2011 effort…..while Identity2012 went from 20 citites in 2011 to only 15. If Skrillex and Kaskade alone can hold their own shows in this many cities, the majority of these cities should be able to sustain a single day festival made up of artists across so many different genres of our beloved EDM….otherwise, this tour needs hung on the shelf next to other failed tours.

      Hey Dougie D,

I’m sorry to hear your time at the VIP Vegas concert was not what you were expecting. Hopefully they’ll get the kinks you experienced figured out. Thanks for your input!

haha yeah, it was a major let down when at the first stop a month prior VIP had a sectioned off part of the GA area up front and center for only VIP ppl. But seeing I had a GA ticket an got free ‘upgrade’ to VIP, I’m not completely unsatisfied. just didn’t feel all too ‘important’. and the show at XS that same night was a once in a lifetime experience that made up for it! Sadly though with Columbus Ohio being the closest stop to me in Cleveland this year, and with Hangout Music Fest, Mountain Jam fest, and Spring Awakening Fest all in 5 weeks starting here in 2 weeks, Identity will be seeing zero dollas from me this year. I’d MUCH rather go see Afrojack with Bobby Burns and R3hab open for $40 and Kaskade with Pharoeh and Alvin Risk for $35 and get a full set from all them as opposed to a fest set.

everything’s got it’s pros to some n cons to others…

Keep the news coming!! Sorry to bring the negativity to ur post :-\

This line up straight up sucks. All of them suck at producing except madeon, pvd and showtek. Geez music has far evolved from this. Anyone with half a brain cell can make the lines up genres.

    1 the sound design sucks
2 the mastering is just crap
3 don’t get me started on music theory horrendoes
4 how did half of them get signed? Dunno

So I’m assuming you didn’t say “yes” to ID fest? Haha. I’m not sure what music theory has to do with this lineup, but I hope you didn’t spend money on a ticket since you didn’t like most of the artists on the tour itself. I know that the people who do like these artists seemed to enjoy the fest, so bravo, ID fest; Due Diligence, I hope you did find a festival whose lineup meets your musical taste!
