Marquee Boots Mark Farina From DJ Booth

Chicago native, and house DJ extraordinaire apparently got the boot from the booth for playing house music. Now, why would he get kicked out for playing house music? Well, because it was the “wrong” type of house music. Known for his Deep House and groove-heavy electronic sound, got complaints from the bottle service patrons at the Marquee Dayclub yesterday because it was not the high energy, progressive house sound that they were wanting.
Advertised as an afternoon of “authentic house music DJs” featuring Miguel Migs, Mark Farina was replaced by another DJ who played more mainstream house music. Rumor is that the Marquee is saying that it was getting too late into the day and that they are going to reschedule him. If that is the case, why would you bring in another DJ to play during his timeslot, just with more popular stuff?
Farina then took to his twitter account to tell the his side of the story (which you can see below). It doesn’t necessarily matter what side you believe, just that either way Mark Farina wasn’t able to play because of his style of music. Even with the bottle service bringing in the majority of the money into the Marquee, you should know what type of music you are going to experience before you arrive. Otherwise, don’t pick a cabana for that day. Let’s just hope that everything works out before EDC this weekend, where there will be a lot more Deep House artists in the area, including Danny Tenaglia, who is set to play the Marquee Dayclub next Monday. Well I will be there, so I will let you know what happens.
