Event Review : Robbie Rivera at Pacha NYC 4-27-12
Let’s all be honest here. When Robbie Rivera steps into that booth, amazing things happen. He is hands down one of my favorite live performers. Actually, he has been since I first saw him perform at Pacha NYC right around this time last year. His solid mixing of tracks takes you on one of the most enjoyable rides of your life.
I’m one of those early birds that always arrive at the club just before the doors open. As a frequent club go-er at Pacha NYC, I use this time to chat around with some of the staff and regulars. Everyone seemed to be overly excited about the performances to come that evening. Especially the return of Robbie Rivera.
Robbie Rivera, the Puerto Rican native, recently embarked on his Dance Or Die Tour with Bassjackers and Peace Treaty. When I first heard about the tour, the first thing that popped in my head was ‘Wow! This is going to be a MASSIVE party”. I was right. They all had Pacha NYC jumpin’ from the time they played their first tracks. Honestly, I couldn’t believe the turn out. Even though Robbie Rivera has been around since before I was born, I didn’t think he had such a huge following. Don’t get me wrong, he’s an extraordinary producer/DJ, but when you look at the following popular mainstream DJ’s have, you kind of begin to wonder who all these folks in the club came out to see. Granted, Bassjackers and Peace Treaty were there as well , but the crowd clearly showed the most love for Robbie (no pun intended).
Robbie Rivera played some of his newest and oldest tracks along with tracks coming from the house-y side of EDM and the more electro side as well. He blessed the club with one of his newest co-productions with Dero called Moocher, a pounding Electro production with fantastic sounds that almost remind you of Dutch House. The crowd LOVED it. Everyone seemed to be extremely satisfied with the mixture of drums and electro synths the track included.
Stay tuned for our EXCLUSIVE interview with Robbie coming soon!
